"Waste no opportunities": a concept that applies

following "the light" hierarchy of this system.

"The Light" also represents a perfect path of harmony. Imagine a fire alarm goes off, exit signs light up, this is the most efficient way to exit the area and in most cases the only way. Many ways to enter a room, door, window, smash the wall down. " The Light" refers to the most efficient way to restore harmony safely for all involved. So, if an attacker launches a punch, in SSPM a vision of light appears and that is the journey which restores harmony most efficiently.
